Fig Tree | Victory
This album is written along the lines of 2 main themes – the homophones Fig Tree and Victory. This imagery is based on Habakkuk 3:17-18 “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.”
Fig Tree represents the autumn and winter seasons of life – times of doubt and overwhelming circumstances, when healing and provision have yet to come, a deepening thirst and aching for more of the Lord. Victory marks the arrival of spring and summer, not because the circumstances have changed, but because of an awakening in the psalmist’s perspective – to maintain a posture of worship and faith in the face of trial, to abide wholeheartedly and wait for His redemption, a resolve to rejoice in the Lord!
Luke 12:28-30 “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near. He told them this parable: “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.”
